(Undated) – Despite bitterly cold temperatures for the Wabash Valley, a white Christmas may be a long shot. While the current forecast is calling for a chance of snowfall off and on the rest of the week. The National Weather Service is not calling for “significant” accumulation in the area. The current forecast is calling for less than an inch. A White Christmas is defined as having at least 1 inch of snow on the ground Christmas morning. The snow does not have to fall on Christmas morning. There just has to be an inch of snow on the ground and while it is a long shot, the National Weather Service says it’s not impossible. Currently, the WTYE listening area has a 10-25% chance of a white Christmas.
