Drive Safe During Winter Weather

(Undated) – With the threat of snowy weather in our forecast, drivers are again being reminded of some simple winter driving safety tips. When traveling on snowy roads you should leave at least one and a half car lengths between you and the vehicle in front of you. Pump brakes gently when slowing or stopping. If you start to slide, take your foot off of the gas and allow the vehicle to slow, lightly pump the brakes, and remember to “turn into the slide.” If you do slide off the road, put your emergency flashers on, stay in your car, and call 911. If you are following or approaching a snowplow, slow down, give them room to work, and never try to pass. You can find the link for both Illinois and Indiana Road Condition websites below.
