(Undated) – Ameren Illinois has filed paperwork with the Illinois Commerce Commission seeking a rate adjustment for both gas and electric. Ameren Illinois Spokesman, Tucker Kennedy, says the increase is needed as the utility makes the move to “green energy.”

According to Ameren, the adjustment would increase the average household bill by about $6 per month on the electric side and just slightly more than that for natural gas. The estimated cost to electric consumers is based on a monthly usage of about 10,000 kW, while the natural gas estimate of $6.68 per month is based on a monthly usage of about 745 therms.
