(Undated) — Illinois is awarding nearly sixty-million dollars in grants and Oblong will be among the local communities receiving some of that money. In total 118 local park projects throughout the state will share in the grant money. The funding will be used to help communities acquire land and develop recreational opportunities. The Village of Oblong will be receiving five-hundred-ninety-eight-thousand-four-hundred-eighty-dollars. Willow Hill will be receiving just over three-hundred-seventy-two-thousand dollars. The grants represent the largest round of Open Space Land Acquisition and Development grants in the 36-year history of the program.
