March is “Severe Weather Preparedness Month”

(Undated) – The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is reminding residents that March is “Severe Weather Preparedness Month” and this is “Severe Weather Preparedness Week” in Illinois. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service have teamed up to publish a Severe Weather Preparedness Guide to help you be better prepared when severe weather strikes. Residents are encouraged to update their family communications plan, make a severe weather preparedness plan, build an emergency preparedness kit, identify their safe place during a storm, and know the various weather watches, warnings, and advisories. The state averages 53 tornadoes per year and communities across the state are also susceptible to flooding. To learn more check out the link below.
