(Undated) – The national average for a gallon of gas has jumped to $3.45, an eight-cent increase from Monday. The statewide average for Illinois is up thirteen cents from Monday to $3.64 a gallon. In Indiana, the price has fallen two cents from the beginning of the week to $3.41 a gallon. Gas in Mississippi remains the lowest in the country at $3 a gallon. In California, the price is $4.87 a gallon. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, the higher cost of “summer” blends is being passed along to motorists and a statewide average of $4 is not out of the question.

He says while we may not see weekly increases, the overall trend will remain upward through much of the Spring.
