(Undated) – April is “Safe Digging Month” and Ameren Illinois is reminding the public to call “JULIE” before you dig. Dialing 811 will put you in contact with the Joint Utility Locating Information for Excavators, which will come out to your property and mark where the utility and other lines are for you, so you know where not to dig. The “JULIE” service is free of charge and the toll-free number is in operation 24 hours a day. The law requires that you call at least 48 hours before you plan to dig.
