(Undated) – Gas prices fell ahead of the July 4th holiday. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, just ahead of Independence Day, the national average fell to its lowest level since late April. De Haan says at the “halfway point” of the year, the national average is right at the level they anticipated for a full-year average and while that’s good news, he believes we may see prices close out the second half of the year below expectations. This would be welcome news for motorists as the national average could fall below $3 per gallon this fall. The current national average is $3.49 a gallon. The statewide average for Illinois is $3.85. It’s $3.33 in Indiana.
