NWS Forecasting Continued Wet Trend

By Tony Collins Jul 19, 2023 | 6:39 AM
(Undated) – While it may not be welcome news if you have outdoor plans, it is good news for area farmers. A wet trend for the foreseeable future could help us break an ongoing drought in Illinois.
That was Ed Shimon at the National Weather Service in Lincoln. Shimon indicates an above-normal precipitation trend is going to hang around for the next few months. He says the change is largely due to the rapid setting up of El Nino.
Shimon says below-normal temperatures, for the back end of July indicate we could be in store for more storms to wrap up the month.
