(Undated) – Blood donations nationwide are down significantly. According to the American Red Cross, likely due to summer activities, they’ve seen about fifty thousand fewer donations than needed over the past couple of months. Red Cross Regional Communication Manager, Brian Williamsen, says it is traditional to see fewer donors in the summer.
Williamsen says the most needed types of blood are O’s. Type O-Positive and O-Negative which are considered “universal.” Visit redcrossblood.org to find a drive near you and schedule an appointment.
