(Undated) – Gas prices have soared over the last week. According to this morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com, the national average has jumped to $3.73 a gallon, up seventeen cents from a week ago. Industry experts are blaming the spike on production cuts and record-high heat. They also caution prices could move even higher if there are refinery issues or if a hurricane impacts oil production in the Gulf of Mexico. Here in Illinois, the statewide average is $3.97 a gallon, up sixteen cents from a week ago. Across the river in Indiana, the statewide average has jumped a quarter from a week ago to $3.69 a gallon.
