Illinois Supreme Court to Vote on Weapons Ban Today

By Tony Collins Aug 11, 2023 | 6:34 AM

(Undated) – A decision regarding the state’s “weapons ban” is expected today. The Illinois Supreme Court is expected to rule today on the “Protect Illinois Communities Act.” The state’s high court is deciding whether the ban is constitutional. Governor, Pritzker, signed the ban in January in response to the deadly Fourth of July shooting in Highland Park last year. The measure bans the sale of military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines in the state. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to block the law statewide in May.
