(Undated) – Gas prices nationwide continue to surge as oil prices climb for the seventh straight week. According to this morning’s numbers from GasBuddy.com, the national average is at $3.84 a gallon, up thirty cents from a month ago but eight cents per gallon lower than a year ago. GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, says the national average price could climb slightly higher as we get closer to Labor Day. De Haan says oil prices remain under pressure from recent OPEC production cuts. In addition, the largest refinery in the Midwest moved up its seasonal maintenance to several weeks earlier than expected, causing a somewhat unexpected jump at the pump. De Haan says motorists will likely see a mixed bag at the pump this week.
