(Undated) — Illinois is expanding excused absences for work-based learning events. High School students who need to miss school for FFA and 4-H events will no longer face unexcused absences. A bill signed by Governor, JB Pritzker, makes those events excused. FFA and 4-H programs encourage both urban and rural Illinois students to participate in hands-on projects across agricultural, STEM, and business development sectors. Beginning in 2022 the state started covering the cost of FFA dues for students, bringing FFA enrollment up from twenty-three thousand to forty-one thousand.
