Crawford County Dive Team Assists Recovery in Olney

(Olney, IL) – The Crawford County Dive Team was in Olney this week following a boating accident on East Fork Lake. According to the Illinois State Police, on Monday an unnamed female was operating a boat pulling an adult male and a juvenile female on a tube. Both occupants of the tube fell into the water and the adult male did not resurface. Emergency services were called and a search utilizing sonar was conducted. On Wednesday an image of the victim was captured by sonar and the Crawford County Dive Team was deployed. The victim was recovered and pronounced deceased by the Richland County Coroner. The investigation into the accident is ongoing. The Olney Police Department, Olney Fire Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Jasper County EMA, Effingham Dive Team, Vincennes Dive Team, and Robinson Police Department were also involved in the search and recovery.
