Heatwave Continues Statewide

hot-weather

(Undated) — Temps continue to climb throughout Illinois. The National Weather Service says highs today could reach the upper 90s, with heat index values as high as 115. There is an Excessive Heat Warning in effect until Friday night for much of the state. They remind the public to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Also, young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
