(Undated) – The National Weather Service has released its “August Climate Data” and the month ended with near to above-normal precipitation. They say the heaviest and most beneficial rains fell during the first one to two weeks of August with precipitation becoming less frequent by the end of the month, which coincided with a heat wave. Daily rainfall records were broken at Peoria on August 5th when 3.29 inches fell breaking the previous record of just over two inches set in 1998. It was the 7th wettest August on record in Springfield and Lincoln. Here at the Classic Hits, WTYE, studio, we recorded just over five inches of rain for the month, just slightly more than in 2022.
