(Undated) – Gas prices across the “corn belt” are likely going to spike. GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, says drivers in Oklahoma, Missouri, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Kansas should especially be ready. He says GasBuddy predicts that gas prices in these states will spike anywhere from fifty cents to a dollar per gallon over the next several days. De Haan says a refinery outage is the likely cause. While the spike may be relatively short-lived, he says the situation remains volatile. There is no word on what this issue could mean for the rest of us. The current national average is at $3.80 a gallon. The statewide average here in Illinois is $4 and it’s $3.70 in Indiana.
