CMH Warns Public to Learn the Signs of Sepsis

(Undated) – Yesterday was “World Sepsis Day” and CMH is reminding the public that undiagnosed infections can turn life-threatening quickly. Crawford Memorial Hospital is warning the public to know the signs and symptoms of sepsis. They say most cases start before a patient even goes to the hospital. Sepsis arises from an overreactive immune response to an infection, causing the body to mistakenly attack itself, and can result in tissue damage, organ failure, and eventual death. That’s why it’s so important to recognize the signs and symptoms of infection, such as fever, increased heart rate, difficulty breathing, and confusion.
