CCSO Offers Safe Driving Tips As Harvest Season Begins

By Tony Collins Sep 20, 2023 | 6:46 AM

Harvest season is here and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists in the area to be on the lookout for increasing farm traffic on the roadways. The sheriff’s department offers the following tips to stay save while driving around farm vehicles and implements

  1. Slow Down. When a farm implement is driving 15 miles per hour and you are driving 55 miles per hour, it only takes 5 seconds to close the gap a length of the football field between you and the tractor
  2. Be alert and give farm vehicles and implements space
  3. Do not pass in a no-passing zone or anywhere it is not safe to pass.
  4. Do not tailgate
  5. Make sure the implement is not turning left before you are passing on the left.
