A man is accused of having an air rifle near a school in Effingham. Authorities say Effingham Police received a report yesterday about a man armed with a rifle near the intersection of National Avenue and South Fifth Street. Officers located Jeffry Pinkerton in the 600 block of South Fifth Street and found out he was in possession of an air rifle. Pinkerton was arrested on multiple charges. During this incident, Officers responded to South Side School as a precaution and remained at the school until the suspect was located.
