(Teutopolis) – The evacuation notice in Teutopolis has been lifted. According to Teutopolis Fire Chief, Tim McMahon, the evacuation was lifted around 7:40 p.m. Saturday. Officials advise opening windows to air out homes and to call 911 if strong odor is noticed or you start to feel sick. U.S. Highway 40 remains closed between Effingham and Montrose. Thousands of gallons of toxic ammonia were spilled in the crash, which occurred Friday night on US 40 forcing the evacuation of about 500 people in the area. Federal authorities continue to investigate the crash.
