Hundreds Remain Evacuated Following Fatal Accident Near T-Town

(Teutopolis) — Five people are dead and hundreds remain evacuated after a semi-truck carrying seven-thousand gallons of ammonia overturned in T-Town. Authorities say the tanker was involved in a multi-vehicle accident late Friday night on U.S. Highway 40 near Teutopolis. They also report that five people were killed and five people were airlifted to area hospitals. Thousands of gallons of toxic ammonia were spilled in the crash, forcing the evacuation of about 500 people in the area. Federal authorities are investigating the crash.
