(Undated) – The Illinois State Police is teaming up with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office for increased traffic enforcement efforts along the I-70 corridor. Authorities say this “stepped up” effort is due to an increase in crashes in that area. They say they will work together to conduct enforcement details targeting distracted driving, speeding, and other reckless driving behaviors. These details will be focused in and around construction areas on I-70, as well as roads drivers are using for detours. An accident on I-70 and the subsequent detour is being partially blamed for the recent fatal crash and anhydrous ammonia leak on US 40 near T-Town that claimed the lives of five people.
