Mark Shaner Announces Retirement

(Undated) – Second Circuit Associate Judge, Mark Shaner, has announced his retirement. According to a press release from Second Circuit Chief Justice, Mellissa Morgan, Shaner will be stepping down effective December, 15th 2023 and applications are currently being accepted to fill the upcoming vacancy. Before serving as an associate judge, Shaner was Crawford County State’s Attorney, a position now held by his son, Cole Shaner. The application deadline is November 6th. Any United States citizen who is a licensed attorney in Illinois and is a resident of the Second Circuit is eligible to apply. The Second Circuit includes Lawrence, Richland, Wayne, Jefferson, Hardin, Hamilton, Gallatin, Franklin, Crawford, and Edwards County.
