(Undated) – You might not be able to tell it by the prices here, but as a whole gas prices have fallen for the fifth straight week. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, the national average is on the cusp of falling to the lowest level since March. De Haan says demand for gas continues to weaken as winter approaches. Coupled with the switch to cheaper winter gasoline and refinery issues that have faded into the rearview, gas prices have been weakening even as oil prices have climbed. He says for now, that trend will likely mean further declines in the weeks ahead before prices bottom out between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The current national average is $3.54 a gallon. The statewide average for Illinois is $3.61 and it’s $3.29 in Indiana.
