Oblong Mayor Issues Warning About Door-to-Door Solicitations

(Undated) — While the products may change, door-to-door solicitation is nothing new. Oblong Mayor, Teresa Fielder, is issuing a warning regarding “ProLux Energy.” They appear to be a company selling solar panels and they were “making the rounds” in Oblong yesterday. Fielder says regardless of who is knocking on your door or ringing your doorbell, use common sense. She reminds Village residents that solicitation is prohibited in the Village. However, because of how these companies operate it may be hours before Police are made aware. Those first hours give solicitors a lot of time to gather plenty of information. Fielder reminds everyone if something sounds too good to be true it probably is. The public is reminded to report suspicious activity to authorities.
