(Undated) – Local authorities are reminding drivers to look out for deer. According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, to date, deputies have handled one-hundred-twenty-eight deer-related accidents countywide. October through January is deer mating season, which means they are more active and deputies say as a result they see an “uptick” in deer-related crashes this time of year. Drivers are reminded “Don’t Veer for a Deer.” If a deer jumps into your path apply the brakes and hold the wheel firmly. After impact safely pull your vehicle well off the roadway and call 911.
