Get Your House Ready for Winter

By Tony Collins Nov 1, 2023 | 6:36 AM

(Undated) – We have seen below-freezing temperatures the last couple of nights which should serve as a reminder to make sure our homes are ready for winter. It’s important to prepare your home to keep out the cold with insulation, caulking, and weather stripping. It’s also important to take steps to keep pipes from freezing. Experts say you should also gather supplies in case you need to stay home for several days without power including extra batteries for radios and flashlights. Ready.gov also reminds those who are unable to afford heating costs, weatherization, or energy-related home repairs, to contact the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for help.
