(Undated) – Farmers statewide appear to be ahead of the average for harvest. According to the latest numbers from the USDA Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report, as of October 29th, corn harvested reached 81 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 77 percent. The soybean harvest is ahead of the 5-year average, reaching 89 percent compared to 82 percent. Winter wheat planted reached 90 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 78 percent. Winter wheat emerged reached 63 percent, which is well ahead of the 5-year average of 50 percent. Winter wheat condition was 1 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 20 percent excellent.
