Former OES Principle Arrested on Battery Charges

(Undated) – A former Oblong Grade School Principal was arrested yesterday in Effingham County. According to Effingham County authorities, sixty-five-year-old David Parker was arrested after Effingham City Police received a complaint of battery to a student at Effingham Junior High School. The complaint was received by police on November 8th and Parker was taken into custody yesterday. He was serving as an Effingham Unit 40 teacher’s aide at the time of his arrest. Reports indicate that the student suffered minor injuries. Parker faces a single charge of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13. Aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 is a class 3 felony and carries a sentence of five to ten years in prison with fines up to $25,000.
