Gas Prices Continue Downward Trend

By Tony Collins Dec 5, 2023 | 6:35 AM

(Undated) – Gas prices have “eked out” an 11th straight week of declines. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, motorists can blame the OPEC+ meeting for causing oil to jump early last week and then plummet late last week for the volatility in gas prices. De Haan says as the dust settled, planned production cuts by OPEC+ and Saudi Arabia weren’t enough to offset concerns of falling global demand, which pushed oil back down to below $73 in Sunday night trading, giving hope that the national average still could fall to $2.99 a gallon by the end of the year. The national average is currently hovering around $3.23 a gallon.
