By Tony Collins Dec 5, 2023 | 6:39 AM

(Undated) – The National Weather Service has released its “Autumn Climate Survey” and it’s no surprise, that most locations experienced below-normal precipitation and above-normal temperatures. NWS data shows September was dry with the regional precipitation average tallying a one-inch deficit. This was followed up by near-normal precipitation in October and an otherwise very dry November across central Illinois with most locations experiencing between a one and four-inch precipitation deficit. Temperatures were above normal across the region each month this fall. October was unusually warm and opened with three consecutive days of 85-plus-degree temperatures. The weather pattern then remained warm throughout the month with the first freeze of the season not arriving until October 30th, which is about two weeks late. November was just slightly warmer than normal.
