(Undated) – Three of the four county school boards approved a tax question resolution during their recent meetings. The Robinson, Palestine, and Oblong School Boards all approved the resolution directing the Regional Superintendent of Schools to certify to the County Clerk to add the question of imposing a “retailers’ and service occupation tax” at a rate of 1% to the ballot of the general primary election to be held in March 2024. The revenue generated would be used exclusively for school facility purposes, school resource officers, and mental health professionals. The Hutsonville School Board rejected the resolution.
