Weapons Ban Upheld by Federal Judge

(Undated) – Owners of “assault weapons” in the state are running out of chances to stop the state’s new registration requirement. Illinois’ new assault weapons ban requires those who own certain types of rifles to register them with the state as of January 1st. On Friday, a federal judge in East St. Louis refused to stop that registration. Gun owners and a group of gun dealers tried to block the registration requirement by arguing that the new rules were too vague and that gun owners didn’t get enough notice. This is just the latest ruling against gun owners and gun sellers who’ve been trying to stop the new law from taking effect.
