(Undated) — The New Year’s weekend is coming up and law enforcement statewide will be working “overtime.” The Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police, and local law enforcement will be working through the beginning of the new year to keep the roads safe. During these last days of the year, additional law enforcement will be patrolling for impaired driving, seat belts, speeding, distracted driving, and other traffic laws. Through December 14th of this year, more than twelve hundred people lost their lives in crashes. That is eleven more than during the same period in 2022.
