(Undated) – As we head into the New Years holiday weekend gas prices have ticked up from a week ago. The current national average is $3.13 a gallon, a penny higher than last Friday and four cents higher than Tuesday. The current statewide average for Illinois is $3.05 a gallon, unchanged from Tuesday. Across the river in Indiana, the statewide average is down six cents from Tuesday at $2.86 a gallon. Oklahoma has the cheapest gas in the nation at $2.61 and California has the most expensive at $4.66 a gallon.
