(Undated) – Following a brief “pre-holiday” rally gas prices have begun to once again slip lower. GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, says while gas prices have risen in some areas, other states have returned to declines. Illinois is one such example, falling below $3 per gallon for the first time since 2021. The states with the lowest average prices are Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Arkansas. The states with the highest average prices include California, Hawaii, and Washington. De Haan says the good news continues for average diesel prices, which slipped below $4 per gallon again and stand at their lowest level since the summer. The national average currently stands at $3.09 a gallon.
