Nationwide Blood Shortage Increases

By Tony Collins Jan 10, 2024 | 6:35 AM

(Undated) – The Red Cross is again asking for the public to donate blood and avoid a nationwide shortage. According to American Red Cross Spokesperson, Sharon Watson, fewer donors than needed gave over the holidays, drawing down the national blood supply and reducing distributions of some of the most needed blood types to hospitals which has resulted in an emergency blood shortage.

Anyone who gives blood, platelets, or plasma in January will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. For details on the contest or to find a list of area blood drives near you, visit redcrossblood.org
