(Undated) — Staying scam-free may be a challenge in 2024. Better Business Bureau Investigator, Don O’Brien, says the best thing to do is to resolve to remain vigilant. That means avoiding phishing emails, unsolicited texts, robocalls, and cryptocurrency. O’Brien says some of the biggest scams of 2023 involved cryptocurrencies and gift cards. He says often scammers ask for crypto or gift cards since the transaction is irrevocable. Last year, Americans lost almost three billion dollars in social media scams.
