Blood Donations Reach 20 Year Low

By Tony Collins Jan 17, 2024 | 6:33 AM

(Undated) – The current blast of winter weather has driven the need for blood donations to a twenty-year high. According to the Red Cross, thanks to the bitter cold temperatures, blood drives across central Illinois had to be canceled leaving hospitals with less than a day’s supply of blood. January marks “National Blood Donor Month.” To schedule a blood donation, visit redcrossblood.org. All those that donate in January will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The Red Cross will be at the Hutsonville High School today from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
