Gas Prices are Expected to Trend Higher

By Tony Collins Jan 30, 2024 | 6:35 AM

(Undated) – Gas prices could soon see a significant increase. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, we’ve seen the national average price bounce back up after cold-weather-related refinery shutdowns pushed up the wholesale price of gasoline. De Haan also says recent GDP data and new attacks in the Red Sea have pushed oil prices to their highest level since November. He says he believes this is just the beginning and we should brace for larger increases in the coming months. De Haan says those price hikes are likely to last through April or May, during which the national average could rise 35 to 85 cents per gallon.
