BBB Issues Tax Scam Warning

(Undated) — Tax filing season is underway and the Better Business Bureau reminds the public to avoid tax scams. BBB Investigator, Don O’Brien, says often, tax scams involve a phone call in which scammers pretend to be a part of the Internal Revenue Service.
O’Brien reminds the public that the IRS will not contact you via phone, text, or email.
According to the Federal Trade Commission data, U.S. adults lost 10 billion dollars to scams in 2023, with over four billion related to tax scams. To file a complaint about a tax scam visit IRS.gov.
