Sales Tax Proposition Falls Short

By Tony Collins Mar 20, 2024 | 6:39 AM

(Undated) – The proposed “retailers occupation tax” and “service occupation tax” did not pass. The 1% sales tax to be used exclusively for school facility purposes, school resource officers, and mental health professionals failed to garner enough votes. While the votes have not yet been “certified” as mail-in ballots continue to be counted, the proposition received one-thousand four-hundred and twenty-three “Yes” votes and one-thousand seven-hundred fifty-one “No” votes, falling short by three-hundred-twenty-eight votes.
