Eclipse Excitement Continue to Grow

(Undated) — Excitement is growing for Monday’s solar eclipse. It’s the first total eclipse visible in the U.S. since 2017 and will be the last one seen here until 2044. States in the “path of totality” include Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Researchers at the University of Illinois are joining a global effort to study the effects of the eclipse on the planet’s ecosystem. Illinois researchers will look at wind turbulence and atmospheric gas concentrations. They conducted similar studies during the last total eclipse in 2017 but they hope an expanded global effort will lead to more significant results.
