Rise in Gas Prices Should Start to Slow

(Undated) – The rise in gas prices could be slowing. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, as the nationwide changeover to “summer gasoline” is now behind us, at least one of the three factors that had been actively causing prices to rise in the last couple of months has ended. However, De Haan says it may take time for the largest “pain point,” refinery maintenance, to be over. He says the next few weeks should see many refineries wrapping up their work and gasoline output should rise, putting downward pressure on gasoline prices. De Haan says he is hopeful with reduced concern in the Middle East and an end to the seasonal factors pushing prices up that Americans will soon see relief. The current national average is $3.68 a gallon. It’s $3.89 in Illinois and $3.63 in Indiana.
