(Undated) – The state of Illinois is celebrating the “thin blue line” this month. May is “Law Enforcement Appreciation Month” in Illinois. Governor, JB Pritzker, proclaimed May as “Law Enforcement Appreciation Month” to serve as a time to come together to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, honor those who have served, are currently serving, and offer support to officers and their loved ones. Last week two more names were added to the police memorial wall outside of the Illinois State Capitol building. On Thursday, at the annual service, “end of watch” was honored for two Chicago Police officers Andres Vasquez Lasso and Makayla Preston who were killed in 2023. Three law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty this year in Illinois.
