(Undated) — The latest social media scam is yet another phishing scheme designed to scare Facebook users. If you get a message that appears to be from Facebook claiming that your page is being “disabled for violating community standards,” it’s a scam. Better Business Bureau Investigator, Don O’Brien says you need to be skeptical of any message that promotes a sense of urgency.
O’Brien says If you click the link you’ll likely be taken to an official-looking page and prompted to complete a form to appeal the policy violation. You’ll be asked for your login email, phone number, name, and other details, everything needed to hack into your account, and potentially gain access to sensitive personal information.
