Oblong Police Chief says Beware of Solicitors

(Oblong) – Village of Oblong Police Chief, Colton Williamson, is reminding residents that anyone coming to your door to solicit must have verification that he or she has checked in with him and has been given a written notice to solicit. Ask to see their identification and if they cannot produce confirmation, kindly inform them that they need to check in with the Oblong Police Department. He also reminds the public to never show anyone anything with your name, social security number, or account information on it. You are not required to disclose any information or even answer the door.
