Gas Prices Expected to be “Smooth Sailing”

(Undated) — With the summer driving season now underway, average gas prices have seen ups and downs. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick De Haan, most states are seeing prices slightly below their 2024 peak. De Haan says June tends to be a month of smooth sailing, where we see gas prices decline in most areas, and that’s a trend that looks the most likely for drivers, barring unexpected refinery snags or a tropical storm developing. The current national average is hovering around $3.59 a gallon. The statewide average here in Illinois is $4.01 a gallon and $3.60 a gallon in Indiana.
